The PSOE requires the government Ballesta to lift the ban on municipal boards to invest in public schools (25/10/2016)

Municipal Councillor of the Socialist Group in the city of Murcia, Susana Hernandez, denounced Tuesday at a news conference "the government's refusal to allow Ballesta municipal boards invest in refurbishment in public schools".

As indicated by the socialist mayor, until a few days ago the municipal boards could have the budget contained in the investment chapter for small works in schools, such as placement of air conditioning, installation zones shaded area in yards or purchase of books for the library.

"Usually these expenses have not exceeded or three thousand euros and municipal boards have had no problem in these years when making these improvements, many times, have assumed by apathy and lack of interest of the council itself and the Ministry of Education, which has responsibility for education ".

"Suddenly we find that the Department of Decentralization prohibits together perform these actions conditioning," said Hernandez, who has criticized that now, "a municipal boards are only allowed to make minor repairs but not answer the demands of parents and teachers who are ignored by the local and regional authorities ".

The socialist mayor lamented that the PP government "has no problem with that boards can spend thousands of euros on holidays and leisure activities, but baulk at any investment that will improve the daily lives of the students of the municipality" .

"What is clear with this absurd prohibition is that Councilman Decentralization, Jose Guillen, is more concerned about preventing boards not chairs the PP achieve things that respond to the needs of Murcia and Murcia," he said Susana Hernandez, who has accused Guillén of "paralyze and block over and over municipal boards."

"The government Ballesta has two options: either allows joints to invest in those reforms, packaging or materials that public schools need or, from today, the city of Murcia is responsible for putting solution to these problems while requiring the Ministry also exercise jurisdiction. But if Ballesta and his team are not willing to invest in schools in the municipality to, among other things, continue presuming surplus, we require you to leave work at the municipal boards and immediately lift this ridiculous ban "insisted the PSOE Councillor.

"In the end, as always, everything is a matter of political will. This decision, like so many other of the PP government, is an ideological decision that we will not allow. Or act or not act on the joints, there is no third option. ¿ What will make Ballesta? "he concluded.
