The Socialist Party calls on Ballesta urgent action to avoid collapse causing rains (21/10/2016)

The Socialist councilor in the city of Murcia, Maite Espinosa, has claimed Friday the municipal government of the PP to take urgent preventive measures in situations of collapse suffered last Thursday in roads and different areas of the municipality by episodes of rains.

In this sense, Espinosa said that "the problem of circulatory collapse every time it rains is repeated over time without the team Ballesta take definitive solutions. These chaotic situations that reach flooded main roads crossing a population, as it occurred on Thursday afternoon in the main street of El Palmar, not only involve considerable inconvenience to neighbors, but pose a serious danger to the people who pass ".

In this sense, the socialist mayor pointed out that many of these problems are derived from the urban outrages carried out by the governments of PP, based on an unsustainable model and the lack of foresight of this model.

"In Murcia missing storm sewers, drainage systems, maintenance of gutters and cleaning of watercourses, as well as a specific plan risk management before the rains, which work preventively and not when we have the mess up, because remember that, Murcia although there is little rainfall episodes can occur much more intense and devastating cold drop that occurred this week, "claimed Espinosa.

"In the case of rainfall last evening, which did not last more than two hours, numerous cases of collapse of roads and waterlogging of passable roads that led to traffic chaos always were given. To give some examples of the Municipal Socialist group had references, we can name the flooding of coastal, which are new construction and is something that we do not fully understand, as we could have planned ahead, the streets of Jerome and Avileses flooded completely blocking traffic both pedestrians and cars. Or the problems of La Alberca, more specifically the Barrio de los Almendros, who came to suffer even damage. Without forgetting the areas of Espinardo and Churra, Bacons Bridge, Zeneta, Los Ramos, Gea and Truyols, Sangonera Green or Algezares among many others.

"From the Municipal Socialist Group we demand Ballesta to take appropriate measures to Murcia and Murcia claim every time it rains, so that the streets of our city and districts do not become impassable Venetian canals with every rainfall," he concluded.
