Murcia City Council has renewed psychosocial counseling service Informajoven Center, which provides teens tools for improving communication, conflict resolution, social skills and the prevention of abuse and violent behavior, among others.
The service, which is offered in collaboration with the FEMP through the Healthy Cities Programme, attended 153 consultations last year (September 2015 to June 2016) in person, to which are added 49 resolved by email and 1,382 people who attended the training sessions.
They themes such as affective-sexual education, self-esteem and body image, social relations and communication, pregnancy prevention youth, and techniques of psychological support, identity and self-esteem, improve social integration of young people, relationships are addressed , etc.
Rebeca Perez, Councillor for Youth and Development Cooperation, stressed the importance of "providing comprehensive advice in which young people can find a solution, guidance or information on any matter that concerns them."
In this sense, psychosocial counseling, which is offered Mondays every week from 17 to 19 hours, and Wednesdays, by appointment at the same time, derives users to specific health facilities in appropriate cases.
In addition to the personalized attention, the service aims to develop awareness and training activities in schools, youth centers and local centers of cultural and youth associations in the municipality of Murcia.
The schedule of performing these lectures or briefings can adapt it where necessary to meet the requests submitted by associations or youth groups or schools and cultural centers of the municipality.
