The Civil Guard recovers fringílidas fifteen birds in a home in Murcia (17/10/2016)

Meritorious has denounced the holder from holding birds caught illegally fringílidas

Citizen collaboration has been crucial for the development of the operation

The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia, in the framework of the operation 'BIRDERS', has seized fifteen copies of fringílidas birds in a building of the Murcian hamlet of La Ñora and denounced the holder for committing administrative offenses the Law 42/2007 of 13 December on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, to Law 7/1995, of April 21, Wildlife in the Region of Murcia and the resolution of the director General of the Office Socioeconomic Environmental momentum on outstanding warrants for capturing / holding fringílidas birds, published on July 6, 2016.

Thanks to the cooperation of citizens and within the 'Plan to control the capture, possession and illegal trade of fringílidas birds' specialists Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard began the operation after receiving certain information the existence of a large group of birds in captivity in a home of the Murcian hamlet of La Nora.

With the information provided by citizens, civil guards developed research to locate the address.

The result of the performed investigations and once obtained all necessary evidence, researchers have conducted inspection of the property where they found numerous cages, enabled in the courtyard of the apartment, which contained a large number of copies of fringílidas captive birds very young and without banding.

After requiring the mandatory authorizations capture / possession thereof it has verified its lack, so have instructed the minutes of complaint to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment of the Region of Murcia, for breach of resolution on outstanding warrants for capturing / holding fringílidas birds.

During the inspection they were confiscated all birds- 11 young goldfinches and three adults, who have been delivered at the Center for Wildlife Recovery 'El Valle'.

Confiscated specimens lacked closed rings, which have to be acquired by the holders of authorizations capture and possession in ornithological societies.

Last performances for the protection of birds fringílidas

The last performance of the Civil Guard in the region of Murcia, under the 'Plan to control the capture, possession and illegal trade of fringílidas birds', held last July when, thanks to the collaboration citizen, the Meritorious detected and seized 53 copies of fringílidas -51 goldfinches birds, a nerd and verderón- who were in captivity in two buildings of the Murcian hamlet of Zeneta.

The investigation resulted in several administrative complaints to the two suspected poachers, related to the alleged capture and illegal possession of birds.

The resolution establishes the period CARM capture summer between July 30 and September 4, only to catch juveniles, so the young specimens come from confiscated illegal catches.

Authorizations for capturing / holding fringílidas birds is granted to applicants with personal and not transferable, who prove to have participated in at least three singing competitions a year and that have not been sanctioned by a final ruling on the environment the last two years preceding the date of application, to members of the affiliated companies Ornitoculturales the Hunting Federation of the Region of Murcia and the Spanish Ornithological Federation Silvestrista Culture.

The infringements have been reported to the General Directorate of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, by failing to comply with the following legislation:

- Law 42/2007 of 13 December on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity.

Art. 76.1 L- (capture, unjustified persecution of wildlife species and startup and short of flora in those cases where administrative authorization is necessary, according to the specific regulation of legislation mountains, hunting and fishing continental, when it has not obtained such authorization).

- Law 7/1995, of April 21, Wildlife in the Region of Murcia.

Art. 110.2- (capture, possession, destruction, transportation, death, decay, collection, trade, exhibition or naturalization, unauthorized, unprotected species that are not susceptible to hunting or harvesting fish, as well as their eggs, larvae and fry).
