The Chillida Foundation Robles UMU honors for his research in the areas of Health Sciences (07/10/2016)

Robles Chillida Foundation today presented in Caravaca de la Cruz diplomas to beneficiaries of the aid granted to researchers at the University of Murcia (UMU) of the Department of Health Sciences.

In this call they have been awarded grants of 10,000 euros each, research projects "Interaction of polyphenols and fiber red fruits with the intestinal microbiota and its impact on obesity", directed by Professor Maria Jesus Periago and "Smartfoods. smart to improve cognitive function and prevent cognitive decline in elderly Food", whose principal investigator is professor Maria Trinidad Herrero.

In addition, Professor of Physiology Marta Garaulet has received a grant of international mobility of 4,000 euros for the project "Impact of melatonin, food timing and receptor gene variant on type 2 diabetes risk", which take place at the Harvard Medical School Harvard University (USA).

It has also been awarded a first prize of 3,000 euros for the doctoral thesis of Francisco Manuel Nadal Nicolas, entitled "Identification and characterization of the total population of retinal ganglion cell in rat: new methods of mapping, expression melanopsin and transcription factors Brn3. Study of neuronal and microglial response to axotomy and effect of aging on the retina. "

Robles Chillida Foundation, a nonprofit that aims for aid for research in the Region of Murcia organization, owes its name to caravaqueño pharmacist Elias Manuel Robles Chillida, who donated his estate to various initiatives that promote health and welfare of citizens.
