Citizens regrets that Murcia does not receive European aid for urban and commercial recovery of El Carmen and La Paz and requires Ballesta give explanations (06/10/2016)

The spokesman for the Orange formation, Mario Gomez, lamented that Murcia, the capital of the region, has not been selected by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations, to receive European aid from the Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development and integrated (Edusi) and thus be able to carry out the urban and commercial recovery of the neighborhoods of El Carmen and La Paz.

"A major setback," said Gomez, "if we consider that these two neighborhoods have complex situations of great social and economic vulnerability, as well reflected by the City Council in the City Strategy 2020".

In this sense, Gomez has asked Ballesta to clarify that it will now make the council with these two projects and if Murcia will resubmit to the next call and on what terms, with the same project, with a different one, with modifications ... "to explain what went wrong, causes, and how it will correct the alleged errors facing a future call."

Investments in the Holy Spirit

On the other hand, the spokesman of C's pointed out that the municipality has already carried out similar to previous strategies, through the Urban initiative, specifically in the neighborhood of the Holy Spirit, where they have invested more than 9 million euros, co-financed with European funds for construction, among other infrastructure, a spectacular multipurpose hall, which has no regular activity or scheduled performances, whether sporting or cultural.

For Gomez, "this is a clear example that of improvisation and lack of coordination of municipal policies of the Popular Party."

Thus, the local PP recalled that "the City of Murcia, before his lack of foresight, you risk that Europe will punish if investments in the Urban initiative are not operational before March next year."

Since the formation orange hope that "the government headed by José Ballesta give a definite change their shortsighted and showcase for the sake of all Murcia policies;

and to manage and justify, conveniently, investments made under European funds, avoiding possible sanctions. "
