Blue in Action exceeds 40,000 medical interventions to improve vision to the people of Togo, India and Morocco (11/08/2016)

Councilwoman Rebecca Perez visited the transportable eye hospital used for campaigns of the NGO, which has been built with the cooperation of the City this morning.

Since its inception in 2000, has carried out 52 cooperation projects in the field of health, education and basic infrastructure construction in different countries in Africa and America.

1,150 cataract surgeries, 150 surgeries pterygium, 4,000 eyeglasses donated, 1,500 sunglasses donated, 5,980 graduations vision, 9,850 treatments of eye diseases and 18,220 consultations is the balance of the work done by the Murcian NGO Blue in Action since in 2007 he began his campaign ophthalmologic and optical medical cooperation in Togo, India and South Morocco.

The Councillor for Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Perez, accompanied by the president of Blue in Action, Jesus Franco Vicente, visited this morning the transportable eye hospital they use for their campaigns for Africa, and that is these days in Murcia review and, if necessary, repair.

In order to bring eye care to groups especially depressed rural population lacking access to such assistance and living in countries with a high degree of underdevelopment, in 2010, with the support and collaboration, among others , the City of Murcia, built in Action Blue Eye Hospital Transportable "Ciudad de Murcia".

Six years in Togo

This infrastructure, equipped with all the necessary technical means for consultations, treatments and surgeries, traveled to the region of Kara (Togo), where he has served numerous campaigns to support intervention in ophthalmology and optics for 6 years.

In this sense, the mayor recalled that the City of Murcia, through calls for grants to cooperation projects, has collaborated with the construction kit and hospital, as well as conducting health campaigns intervention.

His only hope

During these years working in the City Hospital of Murcia and in light of the results obtained, many blind people of all ages have recovered their sight, as many have cured their diseases that had triggered blindness, while children with refractive errors have corrective glasses They allow them to learn to read and write and generally thousands of people have been benefited, for whom Blue in Action has been their only hope.
