Murcia recorded in July the unemployment figure lowest since January 2010 (10/08/2016)

Murcia registered unemployment has decreased this past July for the fifth consecutive month, according to the latest data published by the Public State Employment Service (SEPE).

Specifically, the number of unemployed for the seventh month of 2016 stood 9.2% below that recorded in July 2015. This is the number of registered unemployed in the municipality lowest since January 2010.

Thus, the number of unemployed stood at 34,952, representing a decrease of 2,121 people over last March, the month in which began to consolidate the fall in unemployment in the municipality of Murcia;

"A trend that has continued to date, and over five consecutive months, resulting in the formalization of 19,385 new employment contracts only last July," assessed today José Ballesta.

In this sense, the mayor added that "we are not satisfied, but the realization that nearly 3,000 people have found jobs in the last 12 months is a positive record, as well as the increase of 7,500 people in affiliation to social security ".

Regarding age, unemployment has decreased in all sections analyzed, as it has in all sectors of activity, according to data from SEPE.

Trade, administrative activities and ancillary services, vehicle repairs, health and social services are the areas that have experienced greater desecenso in absolute terms last month.

Boosting employment through municipal policies

Within the 'Municipal program for the promotion of employment as the backbone', one of the initiatives better received by entrepreneurs has been declared the municipality of Murcia tax-free zone to open businesses, a measure of this year are benefiting some 2,000 entrepreneurs, with a saving of 1.7 million euros.

Tourism grew by 24% so far this summer

Tourism is also a key to boosting employment in the municipality activity.
