Dr. Pablo Olabe, a researcher at the UCAM and director of Physiotherapy Service Spa Thalasia, working on a new treatment combining dry and water therapy, active and passive methods, and an exclusive technique known as Water Dream, which has allowed to know improvements in factors such as pain, mobility and quality of life of these patients.

Along with Dr. Gonzalo Olabe are Cabizosu Gea and Alessio, PhD Research Group Health and Longevidad' `UCAM, led by Dr. Martinez Almagro;

They are performing their treatments in the thalassotherapy center facilities in San Pedro del Pinatar.

Procedures, mainly based on water therapies allow for improvements in physical aspects in the areas of orthopedics, rheumatology and neurology.

"Just get us water and we favored our health thanks to the physical properties of the same," says Dr. Olabe, UCAM professor and director of physiotherapy center area.

Another aspect is developing fall prevention, since one in three people over 65 years suffer from such accidents, and can have very serious consequences.

Thus, stimulation of balance is an essential element, as Sherrington raised in their meta-analysis of 2011.

Within the set of techniques that apply these researchers in Thalasia, is the Ai Chi, Japanese technique of aquatic therapy, which helps improve balance work as a basic tool to prevent the risk of falling;

as it demonstrated by the results of the randomized trial conducted by this group, which bases its treatments taking advantage of the benefit of the properties offered by the richness of the waters of the Mediterranean Sea to improve the quality of life of this social sector.
