The SEMAS intensifies attention to the homeless in the heat (04/08/2016)

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Social Rights, headed Conchita Ruiz Caballero, intensified attention to homeless people found on the street in the heat.

The aim is to alleviate the physical consequences of exposure to high temperatures particularly vulnerable to health complications for physical or mental impairment sector.

Through SEMAS, Mobile Emergency Service and Social Care, the City of Murcia is making a special tracking homeless people around midday and afternoon, to avoid the effects on health can lead to prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

Thus, professionals SEMAS in two-person teams composed of a social worker and a local policeman, are you serving citizens most at risk, who are provided with means of appropriate hydration, while informing them about strategies they can take to reduce the impact of heat on your body.

They are also informed about the different municipal social resources at their disposal.

The profile of people who are treated daily by the SEMAS is a man between 36 and 55 years old and of Spanish origin.

basically they have a mental illness, addiction to toxic substances and a great physical deterioration.
