Murcia City Council participates in the event Climathón 2016. This is a European initiative to combat climate change that promotes public-private partnership to respond to the challenge of building an economy without carbon.
Climathón be held this year worldwide on Oct. 28, and each participating city proposes its own local climate challenge, which can impact on the lives of its citizens, and participants may come with a preset idea and work together to develop during that day.
The City Council joins this initiative through the Department of Planning, Environment and Huerta, who heads Antonio Navarro Corchón.
The local climate challenge which will focus on the event will be how to improve the adaptation of the City of Murcia Climate Change ''.
Thus the results of this Climathón create synergies and contribute to more participatory even preparing the Plan of Adaptation to Climate Change in the Municipality of Murcia.
The result of the event will be the identification of adaptation measures to climate change in the treated areas.
This event allows you to meet new multidisciplinary ideas to solve challenges in the city, in this case the municipality of Murcia.
The organizers will provide information to serve as a starting point for discussion and identify interest groups to engage actively in the event, with the support of Climate-KIC for development.
So it puts together for 24 hours, ideas to solve the climate challenges of cities, involving citizens, students, professionals and entrepreneurs who lead the most innovative solutions, coordinated through Alem, the Local Energy Agency and Change Climate.
Thus the links between business, university and administration are reinforced, and empowers local communities in action against climate change, in an event held worldwide.
In addition, the participating cities are connected through social networks, which amplifies its magnitude.
Thus, it becomes an opportunity to bring together the main challenges of cities with citizens who have the passion and ability to solve them.
The event becomes a showcase of cities to show practical solutions in the fight against climate change.
