Felipe Coello, Councillor for Health and Sports City of Murcia, accompanied by the councilman of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, presented this morning a motion to declare Murcia as' City Solidarity with Alzheimer's.

On the occasion of the different contributions of associations and neighbors who attended the last day of Neighborhood Participation in the Bureau of Disability, the health minister said that "we must join in the declaration of our city as 'solidarity with Alzheimer' ".

Murcia City Council, said Coello, "wants to record its concern to this problem of the first magnitude declared as' City Solidarity with Alzheimer's, to serve as an example to other municipalities and to support awareness and awareness of society and institutions on this social health "problem.

From CEAFA (Spanish Confederation of Associations of Families and People with Alzheimer's and other dementias) has launched the campaign "Cities of Solidarity with Alzheimer's, in order to sensitize, inform and engage citizens and institutions with problem suffered by more than 800,000 people throughout Spain and affecting 3.5 million people between sufferers and their family caregivers.

Specifically, in our city partnership Afamur (Association of relatives of Alzheimer patients in the Region of Murcia), it has proposed to the City Council the inclusion in this initiative because of the need to promote actions and measures to improve the quality of life of people affected by Alzheimer's disease, since this health problem is now the leading cause of dementia in developed countries, as well as one of the leading causes of death among adults.

There are already more than 180 cities across Spain who have joined this initiative, stating that Alzheimer's affects in Spain to 3.5 million people between sufferers and their caregivers and the costs generated among families exceeds 30,000 euros.

Therefore, Councillor for Health proposes to the House with this motion, urging the Regional Government and Spain the recognition of the need to provide the service of Physiotherapy to affected and caregivers and / or relatives of people suffering from Alzheimer's, in addition to sending the according to the CEAFA plenary and Afamur addition to publishing this agreement on the website of the City of Murcia.
