The Popular Party stresses that neighborhoods and districts will receive this year more than 373 million euros spending (20/07/2016)

Neighborhoods and districts receive more than 373 million euros from the municipal budget, both for investment and to finance current spending this year.

They have never directly handled more items than in 2016.

Specifically, they manage a budget that has grown 32% over the funds managed so far without the items included in the PIPE plan (amounting to 1.3 M €).

These figures reflect the importance that the municipal government team gives citizen participation and decentralization and the essential role that is assigned to neighborhoods and districts.

Martinez-Oliva, Councillor for Finance and Contracting, remember that most of the actual spending is done in the City Council districts.

As an example, contracts for street cleaning, refuse collection, street lighting, garden maintenance, security, etc.

which is mostly operate outside the urban town but "it is not realistic to think imaginable or chop these contracts so that, in that way, be accounted for as direct management by the boards."

Divide an agreement on 60 "mini contracts" would affect only a "worse service, more expensive and poorer," he says.

However, the contrary, Martínez-Oliva stresses that "our responsibility is that Murcia have the better public services at the lowest cost possible."

To this end, the government team, alongside opposition groups are working to adapt the Regulation of Citizen Participation to the needs of neighborhoods and districts.
