Murcia City Council supports the implementation of a protocol to improve care for people with severe mental illness and substance abuse (18/07/2016)

The councilman of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, and the Councillor for Health and Sports, Felipe Coello, attended the Regional Commission of care coordination, which has approved the implementation of a protocol to improve care for people with disorder severe mental and substance abuse.

The aim is to promote inter-agency coordination for these patients often often need resources from different areas have greater access to them.

At the meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee Sociosanitaria, they attended professionals of the Ministry of Health, the Family and Equal Opportunities and the City of Murcia.

This roadmap is the result of the needs identified by the social and health professionals.

The improvements made by professionals and were exposed in the Sociosanitarios Meetings held in the town of Lorca and Cartagena and now are reflected in this Regional Coordination Sociosanitaria Protocol.

The Protocol approved aim to improve coordination between the different services and continue to ensure comprehensive care to patients with severe mental illness and / or substance abuse.

The task is to learn more about the needs of these people and their families, and provide better care, patient-centered and enhancing current levels of coordination and intervention in the health, social, labor and third sector area.
