Environment will develop courses to foster the creation of family organic gardens (15/07/2016)

In collaboration with the Sustainable Development Foundation, activities for the integration of photovoltaic solar energy in the home and business environment will also be organized.

The Board of Governors approved another agreement with ADESGA for environmental education programs at a municipal estate Paraje Los Porches.

The commitment to sustainability, environmental care for the environment and the rational use of resources can start from home, direct and personal way by every citizen.

From that point of view, the Department of Planning, Environment and Huerta, who heads Antonio Navarro, will carry out various initiatives for education, training and awareness with the common aim to restore Murcia progress in practices to ensure greater environmental sustainability.

Thus, the Board has given its approval to the signing of two cooperation agreements with the Neighborhood Association for Sustainable Development Garruchal (ADESGA) and the Sustainable Development Foundation.

This second agreement will perform three different campaigns related to the environmental field.

On the one hand, the Sustainable Development Foundation will carry out training and advice for the creation and maintenance of family and school organic gardens, which also specific issues related to agriculture in these areas will be addressed.

Likewise, the agreement with the city of Murcia boost outreach efforts for the integration of photovoltaic solar energy in the domestic and business sectors, for which the foundation will provide courses in cultural centers, women's associations, youth, consumer, neighbors, cultural and business.

The third way of collaboration will focus on organizing activities in the Environmental and Energy Center Solar Power Columbares for associations, social groups and school groups.

Recovery of the traditional landscape

Moreover, the Governing Board has also agreed to sign a second agreement of collaboration, in this case with the Neighborhood Association for Sustainable Development Garruchal (ADESGA), for conducting education programs and environmental disclosure in a farm town located in the Paraje Los Porches, Sierra de Altaona in Glens San Pedro.

With an area of ​​225,000 square meters, and considered an area of ​​environmental improvement unsuitable for building, property estate of City Hall is part of the 2,000 hectares of land susceptible forest nature conservation in solitary land stewardship, that is, by involving the private sector and civil society in maintaining biodiversity and landscapes.

The collaboration agreement with ADESGA foresees the implementation of the following actions:

a) Recovery of traditional agricultural landscape.

b) silvicultural management of existing forests.

c) Rehabilitation or recovery of rural architecture (houses, ovens, wells, etc.)

d) monitoring and protection of wildlife.

e) Disclosure of environmental values ​​of the area through environmental education activities, coordinated with the way managed by the City Council.
