A course at the University of the Sea show the possibilities of film to teach Humanities (13/07/2016)

From 18 to 21 July the second edition of the course "Cinema as a teaching resource in the fields of humanities" is held.

It will be at the Centro Cultural Las Claras, within the activities of the Sea International University-Campus Mare Nostrum, summer courses organized by the University of Murcia.

The direction is by José Hernández Rubio, Doctor in Humanities at the Carlos III University of Madrid.

For the director of the course, films can reinforce lot Humanities subjects.

According to him "The power of the film image is really suggestive to complement what studied."

The initiative will include film clips as well known as "Julius Caesar" by JL Mankiewicz, "Paths of Glory" by Stanley Kubrick;

"The Agony and the Ecstasy" by Carol Reed, or "Matrix", the Wachowski brothers.

The course is marked the following objectives: discuss the educational value of film for teaching various subjects, especially those related to the Humanities for their affinity and a large number of films made;

warn of the need for proper selection of films to be projected in the classroom as well as offering a working method to extract the teaching that is derived from each film.

a didactic way issues guidance be provided to analyze the object of study by the most representative film sequences.

The course is aimed at students Teachers and Education, History, Arts, Philology, Philosophy, Music, Sociology, Pedagogy, Political, Social Work and people interested in the issues.

It lasts 25 hours and has the support of the Foundation Cajamurcia.

Registered students will receive free credits 2.5 and 1 ECTS credit - CRAU.
