The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, met today to discuss the resources available for the care of women victims of domestic violence and improve their attendance.
"The municipality of Murcia has, first, the initial center where it is welcomed and evaluated in the first instance, each case and a solution is offered to every woman victim of gender violence.
In those cases where so it is advisable from a porofesional and technically go to the shelters that the city has spread its geography where these women are cared for and, in many cases, their children " said the mayor.
Also, José Ballesta added that "in these centers not only assistance and support to women in Murcia is provided, but people from other municipalities in the region are also welcome."
After the meeting, the minister, accompanied by the Councillor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, and the Director General of Women, Alicia Boatmen, visited the shelter for women who have been abused and their families.
