370 forms of solidarity (08/06/2016)

"We must begin to raise awareness of solidarity from childhood," said Ballesta, adding that "more than 2,000 volunteers have gone through the programs of the Department of Social Rights"

A total of 370 works have been submitted to the contest 'I can also be solidary 2016', organized by the municipality of Murcia, to promote the values ​​of mutual aid and volunteerism among schoolchildren in the southern part of the municipality.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Councillor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, took delivery this morning of the awards to children who have been the best shape in a drawing their vision on how to be supportive in daily life, as "solidarity is the most everyday things," said the mayor.

"More than 2,000 volunteers have gone through the various programs of the Department of Social Rights: children, people with disabilities, the elderly, etc., demonstrating the degree of involvement of Murcia society with their environment," he said Ballesta, who added that "volunteers are mostly women, so it is essential to reach all and start raising awareness about the importance of solidarity from childhood".

The first prize drawing was for Jihan Raissouni Aghbalou (Primary 2), CEIP Ntra. Ms. Wonderland Los Martínez del Puerto, while the second prize went to Ramona Chenoa Zur Jacobsmühlen (1 Primary ) of CPEI Bas Sucina Arteaga.

Nearly 700 children and youth have participated in the campaign

In addition, students have received lectures in class about the importance of volunteering and worked, for groups, a dossier in which different scenes at school are collected, with the family and the neighborhood in which a child can be supportive.

The Office of Volunteer Center Social Services 'Murcia Sur' has also given talks at secondary schools in the area and students have watched the short chain favors "kidness Boomerang" and actively participated in debates.

In total, the campaign has reached this year a total of 694 children and youth from 13 schools and five institutes of the territory, making students become aware of the reality of their neighborhoods and learn to assess the impact and repercussions of volunteering the collective level.
