New skills in student matters (06/06/2016)

AFTER BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE SECTOR STUDENT (CRUE), THE RECTOR J. ORIHUELA STRENGTHENS THE STUDENT VICERRECTORADO.

The new responsibility assumed by the University of Murcia as driving in student issues at the national level, requires a greater effort and dedication.

The current Vice President for students, quality and equality (with competence also in diversity and volunteering), will be restructured to take exclusive new features resulting from the election of the rector of the University of Murcia as president of the student sector of the maximum Spanish university body, the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE).

Therefore, J. Orihuela has taken the decision to appoint Dr. Ms. Carmen Garcia Ferrandiz (professor at the Faculty of Education) "student rector" exclusively.

The new rector devote all his time to the new responsibility assumed by the UMU that involve continuous meetings and travel both within and outside the country.

This Monday June 6, J. Orihuela meets in Brussels with representatives of the European Commission in university matters.

The rector go along with the rest of presidents of other sectoral and the standing committee of the CRUE.

It is expected that during the two days of meetings last significant advances are achieved for the benefit of Spanish universities in the field of the European Union.

Prof.

Dr. D. Miguel Angel Perez, will continue to manage the materials on the quality of our university studies, as coordinator of planning vicerrectorado teachings with which has been working closely from the outset.

The materials on diversity and equality will be assumed by the current deputy secretary general, Maria del Carmen Lopez Aniorte, who was a member since 2011 of the committee that prepared the equality plan UMU.

For taking decisions in these matters, he will be named vice provost for social responsibility, transparency and equality, a position from which it will continue with the functions performed by the Deputy Secretary.

Thus, the position of deputy secretary becomes vice provost thereby increasing the number of women who are part of the governing team of J. Orihuela.
