The City Council promotes extracurricular activities in schools with 100,000 euros (02/06/2016)

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councillor for Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Perez and the Councillor for Education, Rafael Gomez, maintained today a working meeting with the directors of the 27 Secondary Schools of the municipality, which they agreed municipal aid of 100,000 euros for the promotion and implementation of extracurricular activities for next year 2016/17.

Therefore, these activities are focused as a supplement that promotes social and civic values, the approach to associations of their immediate environment and as a way to channel the creative expression of young people. "

The total municipal funds for grants is 100,000 euros and each center, with full autonomy, you may submit the selected projects, prioritizing the most demanded by the students themselves, with content about integration and tolerance, gender equality, school violence , environmental and health and proper use of social networking education.

In this sense, the mayor said that "after-school workshops have better reception among high school students are the arts (performing arts, visual and plastic, literary, music, etc.) and new technologies."

Application until September 29

From the agreement reached today, the institutes can submit a draft of the activity or activities for which total or partial grant is requested, with a detailed schedule that includes objectives and educational content.

Grants will be awarded through specific collaboration agreements for each project presented.

The deadline for submission of applications and the required documentation will end on September 29, at 14.00.

Youth Assistance Service

The Youth Service will provide technical advice to computer programming institute when requested, providing the data necessary for the planning, implementation and monitoring of school activities.

With complementary to the subsidized activities, Youth offer for this school year, the following programs: Advisories for youth and youth information points, European Youth Programs, linguistic stays abroad, Club Language, Summer Camps, Leisure activities and free time on the weekend (Network for free time) and CreaMurcia Contest.

Other actions of the Youth Council in the IES

One of the first measures taken by the Youth Council was the launch of the figure of Youth Correspondent in each of the IES.

These correspondents have received specific training monthly talks at the Youth Service relating to liability in social networks, youth programs, meetings with agents of the National Police on hate crimes, etc.

It has launched the Psychosocial Advisory Service, offering free lectures in all schools, with the themes demanded by the directors thereof (cyberbullying, sexually transmitted diseases, violence, racism, etc.).

They have been taught in almost all secondary schools.

Also in the last year, it has launched the Custom service, free and confidential Psychosocial Counseling in the Youth Service to help young people who request (phone, in person or online via).
