The Murcia City Swimming Club makes history in the European Championships Masters swimming London (01/06/2016)

In which it was hosting the Swimming Championships in the 2012 Summer Olympics, they gathered more than 10,000 swimmers master, from 25 to 29 May 2016. It is distributed in the three disciplines of the European Championship Masters Swimming: swimming, synchronized and jumps.

This year has exceeded any estimation of participation;

for example, in the 50 free m there were 2,000 registered, which has been a challenge for the Organizing Committee and the proof that the movement master enjoys great popularity.

For our part, Swimming Club Ciudad de Murcia, has made history by participating for the first time in a European Masters Swimming.

And he has made it big.

After the hard and conscientious work done throughout the season, they came to London to give everything during the five days of competition at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

They came wanting to fulfill a dream and have made history, and they are the first swimmers to represent the club in a European Championship.

Upon termination of Dew, for personal reason, they traveled to London in August swimmers club: Mercedes Bentancur, Concepción Ayala, Cristina Sirvent, Ana Isabel Rodriguez and Fabiola Sandoval women's team;

by the men's team: Omar González, Salvador Poveda and Esteban Sandoval.

Unfortunately, there are still many impediments that are our swimmers to attend such events, mainly economic.

The club has financial support by our City Council of Murcia which barely covers the costs arising from the use of the pool where we do training.

Hopefully this aspect will improve in successive seasons and can continue to grow and offer help swimmers who represent us inside and outside our borders.

On Wednesday, May 25, the championships with the 200 m styles, where Dew was low were opened.

In the 800 m freestyle took part Concepción and Ana Isabel, both swimmers improved their personal bests what speaks for itself the great work done to get here.

In the final standings Ana Isabel scored a 42 th place among the 49 participants swimmers, while Concepcion, who chose to 58 th place among the 71 competitors, was disqualified for moving in the pinete output just before the blast.

The second day of competition Omar entered and Mercedes action.

Our bracistas completed the distance of 50 meters near their best brands.

Mercedes won the 48th place among the 65 disputed Omar and the 105th of the 107.

On Friday, with the team already full, they took to the water again bracistas our veterans, this time to 100 meters, improving some positions.

Mercedes reached the 47th ahead of 9 competitors and the 103rd Omar.

In addition, Salvador swam middle distance test, the 400 m freestyle, achieving the 47th position among the 58 swimmers who competed.

In this 3rd day of competition, also we had representation in the relay event.

The team of 4 x 50 mixed styles was formed Ana Isabel, Omar, Mercedes and Salvador, achieving a creditable 78th place out of 82 participating clubs.

Saturday was the day we had more participation, Fabiola in the 200 m backstroke;

Salva, Ana Isabel and Cristina in the 100m free;

Conchi, Ana Isabel and Cristina in the 400 m freestyle relay team and the 4 x 50 m Free +160 mixed category.

On the final day of the Championship, he played Fabiola 100 m backstroke.

All this is the result of a job well done.

Carried out with humility, enthusiasm, respect ... Giving value to what really matters: the people, their experiences and interests.

Giving the best of each, without expecting anything in return, not even the recognition, because for us there is nothing greater than personal satisfaction, nor more valuable than sharing it with such good people who make up this team.

Thank you all for making this possible.

There have been many Spanish swimmers who have gathered in London, getting great results.

Since Swimming Club Ciudad de Murcia we highlight the performance of two of our colleagues within the Federation of Murcia Swimming specifically to Elisabeth Lobsiger and Juan Francisco Rodriguez for his two gold medals and one silver respectively, these metals are the symbol of work and sacrifice in Masters swimming in Murcia, from here our most sincere congratulations to both swimmers.
