The draft Visitor Center Contraparada, new environmental, cultural and tourist reference of Murcia (01/06/2016)

The Town Planning, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, today introduced the project execution Visitor Center Contraparada, a new municipal facility that will be a benchmark for knowledge and appreciation of the Segura River and orchard and is will become an environmental, cultural and tourist reference of Murcia.

"The project is one of the important activities of the Action Plan of the Huerta developed by the city of Murcia and has a budget of 488,000 euro2 stated the head of Planning, Environment and Huerta.

In the Visitors Center all historical, cultural, ethnographic and environmental aspects will develop necessary for a complete understanding of the values ​​that treasures the garden of Murcia and the River Segura.

Among the main objectives of the Center, said Navarro Corchón, is "to provide a first contact with both the environment itself and the whole vegetable gardens and orchards and the river, encouraging the visitor to understand and foster an attitude of citizen participation and respect to environmental values. The Center will feature an interpretive space on two floors, which will be installed complete equipment of interpretive media based modules and three-dimensional displays that combine volumes with text, graphics, media and technological means and incorporate a wide range of visual proposals, audio and interactive.

The ground floor will be aimed at visitor reception space, where visitors can learn about all aspects of the center, pick up a guide or download QR multimedia software for mobile devices to help them complete the content of the visit.

Thus, the main source of this ground floor consist of an audiovisual room that will showcase one of the main attractions that it gives the center: the audiovisual "The river that gives life".

This will be a powerful interpretive audiovisual introduction of all aspects covered in the center of the garden and the river and be done with 2D and 3D animations, use of drones for aerial imagery, actors and varied use of infographics effects.

The upper floor is designed as a large space with a unitary and pleasant environment in which the contents will be deployed in four major thematic areas.

In the Thematic Area 1 the origin, history and evolution of the Segura River, the garden and Contraparada reflected, based on interpretive panels with rectangular cubes with association of text, graphics, games discovery, screens with video and image overlays .

Thematic Area 2 is intended to explain crop and land use in the garden of Murcia, focusing on traditional agricultural techniques, local varieties, biodiversity in crops, the use of auxiliary and ornamental plants, the main products Orchard Murcia and local cuisine.

Thematic Area 3, dedicated to the identity and huertana culture, choose a suggestive audiovisual strategy to take a tour of the culture of the garden, the main tasks of a huertano and his family, as well as new uses today is they are giving the environment the Segura river and the growing area.

This field is intended as a participatory experience for anyone who has anything to say about their experience huertana can be seen and heard.

Since 2012 the site of the Contraparada is managed by the city of Murcia, after signing an agreement in which the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura gave the municipality the use, maintenance and conservation of the environment after the actions of adaptation performed by the body basin, which included the construction of the building on which now the Visitor Center the Contraparada projects.
