The Corpus Christi blesses the streets of Murcia (29/05/2016)

The Mayor, José Ballesta, this morning attended the traditional Mass and subsequent procession of Corpus Christi, one of the most marked celebrations in the Catholic liturgy.

The impressive silver monstrance, which is usually displayed in the Cathedral Museum and dating from the eighteenth century, began its journey under the sound of the bells of the Cathedral and the National Anthem.

This monstrance by Perez de Montalto, silversmith Queen Mariana of Austria, situated between the Spanish capital Murcia more heritage related to the holiday.

The event was attended by the chair of the Bishop of the Diocese, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, and the presence of municipal authorities headed by the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, plus thousands of parishioners bowed their heads to the passage of the Blessed Sacrament.

On a carpet of flowers and aromatic plants, hundreds of children dressed Communion, representatives of all the movements of the Church and the brotherhoods of passion and glory of the capital have been present in this celebration, which have been placed eight altars by the Santa Maria del Rocio Association (street Frenería);

the brotherhood of Charity (Santa Catalina);

the brotherhood of Mercy (Joufré square);

Grouping Francisco Salzillo (Four Corners);

Virgin Contrapasmo Association (Casino);

the Confraternity of the Rosary (Plaza de la Cruz);

and the Confraternity of the Risen One (main facade of the CAM).

The route of the procession of Corpus Christi by Belluga square, street Frenería, Gran Via street Conde Valle San Juan, Pascual Street, Santa Catalina Street Platería, Plaza Jose Esteve, Four corners, street Tatters, Plaza de la Cruz has elapsed and Salzillo street, to finish again in the square Belluga.
