The helicopter detected 80 foci of tiger mosquitoes in the village (29/05/2016)

The reconnaissance flight by the helicopter in the campaign to control the tiger mosquito has identified more than 80 outbreaks in the municipality.

Once detected, at the moment we are working on your geolocation to later move to the map of Murcia and can thus identify their owners and take necessary preventive measures.

The vast majority of foci observed correspond to pools and irrigation ponds.

Control campaign driven and Zoonoses Veterinary Service of the Department of Sports and Health, takes place this year with ground and aerial means and includes more fumigations and trips to the spotlight.

Furthermore, collaboration with the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura for monitoring and control of the river environment is maintained, while the helicopter with geoposicionamiento and drones are responsible for their detection in areas of difficult access.

The designed treatment avoids massive indiscriminate fumigations-which would undermine human health, by the accumulation of insecticides, while buggers would generate resistance, to focus on the location and identification of possible sources.

This allows much more combat effectively the species and act against larvae located, since the tiger mosquito grows in small spaces and isolated rather than large bodies of water.

Hence the importance of neighborhood cooperation, because in 90% of cases the foci are located on private property.

Therefore, the presidents of the municipal boards have been called the next day 6 at a meeting to inform them about the campaign and ask for assistance.

Concierges colleges and property managers will be quoted the next day with the same reason.

We fought all

In this sense, the City Council has launched the campaign "Against the tiger mosquito fight all" to sensitize residents of the municipality on the importance of alerting the Veterinary Service and Zoonoses at the onset of an outbreak.

They can do this in person or via telephone number 968 24 70 62 or email veterinaria.sanidad@ayto-murcia.es.

At the same time, the Veterinary Service works coordinated with Parks and Gardens and Urban Cleaning detecting incidents that may occur in public spaces, deadlocks or water leaks and reinforcing cleaning scuppers.
