Professional associations of Informatics Murcia (Professional Engineering College Computer and Professional Association of Computer Engineers) held last night's Day information and communications technology, which in its sixth edition focused on the concept Smart Health.

The Catholic University of Murcia was one of the awardees during the event, with the prize 'Best Private Institution ICT project', for its commitment to advanced clinical simulation, implanted in the Degree in Medicine.

Manuel Parraga, responsible for Simulation University and director of the Department of Clinical Skills and Simulation, received the distinction.

Celestino Aviles, dean of the Professional Association of Computer Engineers, said that with this award, "We wanted to recognize the UCAM the efforts being undertaken in the area of health with ICTs," adding that " from professional associations in Informatics region we believe it is essential to use the information and communications technology in all areas of society, and particularly in the field of medicine, as this synergy allows a higher quality of life for the citizens".

Pioneered the use of simulation technologies in Health Sciences

UCAM is pioneering new technologies including simulation training processes.

For this offers students the most advanced equipment, such as own simulation rooms, table of clinical reasoning 'Body interact' simulator delivery or digital anatomical chart, among others, allowing you to approach reality during their university education.

Clinical simulation is a learning tool that aims to train in an environment as close as possible to the real context.

"From the first moment when the UCAM began teaching degrees in Nursing or Medicine opted for new technologies to support teaching," said Parraga, for whom the simulation in training of students is paramount, "although the practice clinic has its value, there are pathologies that can not see every day, and the student can learn these applications with anyone, including rare and severe ".
