Resigns manager of the University of Murcia (27/05/2016)

The manager of the University of Murcia (UMU), Tomas Jimenez, has resigned in office, he announced today the rector, José Orihuela, during the session that the Governing Council of this institution was held in the Faculty of Education on the campus of Espinardo.

Orihuela added that it has accepted the resignation, which he submitted last ninth, and will soon take the Social Council of the UMU the name of his replacement.

Jimenez, meanwhile, said he considers his resignation is most beneficial for the institution, because it has not yet achieved a degree of understanding with the social part, what has been said has come to affect him personally.

Moreover, in the course of the session, which has lasted throughout the day, it has been agreed that the delivery of the joint studies of Administration and Management and Law is unified, from next year, in the building Rector Sabater, Ronda de Levante, on the campus of Merced.

This way is taken into account, among other considerations, the opinion of the representatives of the students, who in 63 percent chose this location compared to 37 percent who voted for the Faculty of Economics and Business, on campus espinardo.

It has also approved the timetable for the election of representatives of cloistered in the Governing Council of the UMU students and to appoint members of the Quality Committee of the Senate itself.

The call for elections will be held on May 31, when it will open the nomination until June 6, being fixed voting for the session of this university organ to be held on 20 March.

The Council has given its approval to the proposal of specific modification of the academic calendar for the next course in the degrees of Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Medicine and Pharmacy.

Finally, it has approved, for his attempted pass into Social Council, the amendments to the statutes information and communications technology, applications and networks (TICARUM).

The manager explained that this limited one-man company started in 2011 and over recent months have carried out various reforms to give it more independence.

In the same vein are the changes approved today by introducing in their charters the possibility that members of the board may be appointed from among the civil servants or work of the UMU and also among employees of the company or among other external that are not linked through their work or professional service relationship or the UMU or other organizations.
