Councilwoman Margarita Guerrero's change Murcia on Monday asked the support of the Corporation to demand the repeal of procedure prayed vote, considering that "denies de facto" the exercise of vote by Spaniards residing abroad.

As explained Guerrero, the vote prayed, a form of suffrage in which the potential voter is forced to "beg" to be granted the right to vote, is a result of the reform of the Constitution that the PSOE held in 2011 with the support of PP, PNV and CiU.

The application of this formula affects more than two million Spanish citizens residing abroad, a figure equivalent to three times the total population of cities like Seville and Valencia, and from a demographic point of view would be the third country's largest city.

The first hurdle you have to overcome a migrated person to vote is registered in the respective Consulate of residence and make public and manifest the right to vote.

The vote is requested to the Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office, once found wanting vote, sent to the address of the voter ballots and voting envelopes.

Once notified, and whether to vote in ballot box, go to the Office or Consular Section that is registered and vote.

Many people living abroad complain about not reached their ballots;

others had to travel hundreds of kilometers because in their place of residence there is no Consulate, and other reported queues of up to five hours to vote.

This problem, denounced by various opposition parties and the Platform Marea Granate, necessitates a new electoral law to end the prayed vote and ensure fair and garantista way the participation of migrants in elections, according to Let's change .

"Not in vain - Guerrero- added in the last general election only they could vote more than 115,000 people out of a total of 1.8 million registered and registered, representing six percent of the total mass voter".
