Fashion, design and textile hacking at the Puertas de Castilla Center (27/05/2016)

On Monday and Tuesday, May 30, from 17 to 20:30, 31 Belgian artist Claire Williams will give a workshop in electrotextiles Center Castilla doors.

In this workshop, textiles and electronics merge to experience a fun and practical way with textile techniques to create lightweight electronic components integrated into garments.

In addition, participants will be invited to explore how electronic textiles can be manipulated to produce, distort or sound level.

Workshop attendance is free but places are limited to 10 per session.

To register, please send an email to info@puertasdecastilla.es indicating name, email, telephone number and day chosen to attend the workshop.

Electrotextiles are a combination of textiles and electronic circuits with LEDs and materials that conduct electricity.

The circuits incorporated in soft tissues, such as clothing or accessories are known as 'soft circuits' and serve to add new features to our textile projects.

The theoretical and practical workshop is aimed at making, remixing and intervention of accessories and clothing through the manufacture of soft and flexible electronic circuits.

For this prototype circuits are realized and creative projects will be developed by mixing textiles and materials capable of conducting electricity.

The activity is part of Multiform Art Practices Program, curated by French artist Lucille Calmel, with the participation of three international interdisciplinary artists who become the center in a large laboratory for interdisciplinary present creation linked to the city, and swap space ideas in order to favor the encounter and dialogue with each other and the creators of these with the public.
