The City of Torre Pacheco wants to grant the title of adopted son Professor Michael Walker (16/05/2016)

The City of Torre Pacheco has initiated proceedings to grant the title of adopted son emeritus professor at the University of Murcia Michael John Walker, who discovered the Sima de las Palomas, where they were found numerous remains of hominids dating back to the Pleistocene.

The municipal resolution, which is published today in the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia (BORM), adds that during the period of sixty days interested parties may submit accessions or suggestions they deem appropriate.

After the discovery in 1991 of a fossil in this Sima, which is located in the Cabezo Gordo, after other remains have been found of great interest considered by the scientific community.

Professor Walker is the scientific coordinator of the excavation project of the Sima de las Palomas, as well as the Black Cave, the second, in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia).
