Fathers, mothers and children gathered at the Garden Silk are given to celebrate the feast of the family (15/05/2016)

The Mayor, accompanied by the Councillor for Social Rights, participates in event in which there have been workshops, stage performances and storytelling.

José Ballesta claims the role of the family as "solid foundation on which our society rests."

Garden Silk was today the venue to celebrate the International Day of Families, organized by the Department of Social Rights and the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, with the collaboration of associations and NGOs.

The event has brought together many fathers, mothers and children in a fun and festive, with activities specially prepared for fun and entertainment of the smallest meeting.

From 10 am until 14 pm, attendees were able to participate in various creative workshops, -manualidades "family photo" hanging my family "," balloon twisting, emotional round, sign language or painting, among others, the -Zumba stage performances and music directors, storytellers, inflatables and games, plus the participation of an animator and installation of booths by the entities whose scope is the family.

The Mayor, José Ballesta, who has attended the event accompanied by Conchita Ruiz and Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, has used the celebration to "vindicate the essential role of the family as a solid base on which modern society is based" has already encouraged all Murcia to "always defend the values ​​it represents this institution."

In his tour of the various activities it has also agreed with Councillor Thomas Violante and those responsible for the general directions of the Ministry.

The International Day of Families is celebrated every year on May 15 since 1994, after the previous year was proclaimed this date by agreement of the United Nations General Assembly, echoing the importance the international community attaches to the family.

This day thus represents a good opportunity to promote awareness and a better understanding of the social, economic and demographic processes affecting this important nucleus of society.
