The Municipal Socialist Group believes that the solution sought by the Department of Social Rights to restore the podiatry service for the elderly is not the most suitable, because they leave more benefit that the situation had until a few months ago when stopped this service, which lent itself to a very affordable price in municipal senior centers.
This is considered the Councillor Maite Espinosa, for whom the agreement between the city of Murcia and the College of Podiatrists "does not allow our seniors to enjoy as they deserve a service that so far received at the centers of older neighborhoods and districts. We should have looked for other solutions, as expressed in the last municipal plenary in February. "
According to the mayor of the PSOE, the reduction of 20 percent on the bill for podiatry services, would represent between EUR 5 and 6, taking into account that the visit to the consultations of these professionals is around 25 or 30 euros.
Previously people who benefited from this service paid roughly half of what it now costs a normal consultation.
Maite Espinosa indicates that, in addition, "the fact that not all districts of Murcia there podiatric clinics and public transportation occurs is not effective and economical than expected, so that the alleged savings is more fictitious than anything else, especially for a people who mostly receive a lower pension. "
In these circumstances we must add that some of the people who need this service have mobility problems, making it more difficult displacement to these clinics.
