An injection of culture and leisure for Senior Centers Network (06/05/2016)

"This agreement will benefit more than 32,000 older who come to our centers, thanks to the social commitment of the Foundation Cajamurcia with the municipality," said José Ballesta.

"The participation of our elders in cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure promotes coexistence, integration and active involvement in our neighborhoods and districts," said the mayor.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the president of the Foundation Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea, signed the collaboration agreement for the Welfare for Elderly, which aims to promote the program of cultural and educational activities in the network of 76 today social centers for the elderly in the municipality.

"Cajamurcia, through its Foundation, has a strong commitment to this city, both economically and social and human terms.

This agreement is a renewal of that commitment, an agreement that will benefit more than 32,000 older who come to our centers, "said José Ballesta.

Specifically, the contribution of Cajamurcia Foundation, amounting to 40,000 euros, provides support for programming own welfare and cultural activities as well as holding training courses and workshops and entertainment.

"If participation is important in our society, participation and involvement of our elders is a must.

So, you work from the Department of Social Rights to promote active, healthy and participative aging.

In this respect, organizing, artistic, physical, intelecturales, cultural activities leisure time promotes coexistence, integration and active participation of our elders, "said the mayor.

A consolidated commitment

Cajamurcia Foundation collaborates with the City since 1999 with different actions to encourage the care and social promotion of older people in the municipality.

During these years, it has carried out both improved facilities and the development of activities, mainly cultural and entertainment events.

These spaces scattered throughout the neighborhoods and districts of the municipality, attracting much of the social and cultural life of older and have currently more than 32,000 members who find them a place to meet their needs and improving their quality of life.
