The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Minister of Culture and the regional government spokesman, Noelia Arroyo, attended tonight the opening of the 'Light' in Vistabella, part of the programming of 'Art' of Star Festival Levante SOS 4.8.

During the inauguration, it took place the sponsorship of the lamp by the residents of Vistabella, and took a tour of each of the pieces with the artists participating in this work.

'Light' is a pioneering project in Spain of urban intervention with a sense of physical residence in the city that invests the time trend of the actions taken by festivals both art and music

One of the objectives of the project is to signal the involvement of the festival with the city, holding a substantial contribution to urban aesthetic, creating a cultural center in the neighborhood of Vistabella.

The action takes place on the street Luis Fontes Pagán and its environment, key artery of the neighborhood and one of the main roads to access the SOS.

It is a journey through a series of interventions in which eight Murcian artists use light as a fundamental element.

Based on the physical limits of the street, you should develop a narrative based on independent and interconnected parts.

The selected artists for 'Light' are Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Sonia Navarro, Sergio Porlán, Miguel Fructuoso, Fod, Nico Munuera, Juan Sanchez and Pedro Guirao.

The work is curated by Carolina Parra and Nacho Ruiz.

Each piece is a light installation: light is the first link between the works beyond the grand narrative and individual stories of each work: bulbs, neon light boxes, muppies, shop windows ..., the support is a central part of the content.

'Nave Porto': reflection on pop culture

Later, the mayor and the minister attended the opening of the exhibition 'Nave Porto.

Greatest hits' in the T20 Gallery Murcia, a reflection on the image of pop culture, fleeing the conventional format and linked with the philosophy of SOS 4.8, analyzing the contemporary mass culture and the limits of both the serial work as individual work in a collaborative context.

The artists who have given life to this project come from the artistic community that has germinated in the Madrid district of Oporto (in the Nave Oporto study): Irma Alvarez-Laviada, Bethlehem, Fod, Santiago Giralda, Miki Leal, Sonia Navarro, Toni Ramon, Manuel and Miguel Angel Tornero Saro.

This is the first time that all develop a joint project (so far carried out their work independently in an open collaborative process) and, therefore, the presence of 'Nave Porto' at the SOS 4.8 is presented as the point departure for future work.

Apart from the work of each artist present in the gallery, each of them has made a specific poster for the Festival, which is also part of the sample.
