The Municipal People's Party presented a motion to improve the quality of life of celiac (27/04/2016)

Felipe Coello, Councillor for Health and Sports City of Murcia, presented this morning a motion to improve the quality of life of celiac patients and support their families and associations working for the same purpose.

Health Councilman noted that "in Spain there are 500,000 gluten, according to figures from the Federation of Associations of Celiac Spain (FACE), being an autoimmune disease whose only treatment is a strict gluten-free diet."

As explained by the mayor, still today, "there is no known way to prevent it, but early diagnosis is absolutely critical to not cause irreversible damage, such as osteoporosis in young women 35 to 40 years."

In addition, "the basket of a family with a celiac is much more expensive than families without them, almost 35 percent, exactly, since raw materials are more expensive," Coello indicated.

Therefore, it is proposed "declared by the City of Murcia solidarity and full support of all political groups of this corporation to celiac patients, their families and associations working to improve the lives of those suffering from this disease."

In addition, this proposal aims to "safeguard and protect patients making them more bearable life," while "development activities that help drive social relations and absolute inclusion of patients in our society will be favored, as well as their families, as the proposed celebration of National Coeliac Day on 27 May each year. "

The council has also stated that, in this regard, "must reach an agreement with the different levels for the signing of agreements with Federations to include in the official delas same and in future city guides and the municipality , catering establishments that have incorporated in their letters, gluten-free foods. "

This proposal also advocates inclusion of such information in mobile apps by the Department of Tourism to integrate new technologies to Murcia and tourists.

Thus, also includes this motion, the study by the City of Murcia of families with more economic difficulties that have some sick member, for help from Social Services.

the Regional Government is also urged to promote the inclusion of specific menus for this disease affected health and personal schools supervised by dietitians, under the coordination of a celiac Service Office.

In addition, the Murcian Government is also urged to promote a single regulator and official stamp of the Autonomous Community of Murcia to identify those catering establishments that offer suitable menu for celiacs.

Finally, the mayor has said that with this motion, "the Government of Spain are urged to take necessary fiscal measures that reduced taxes gluten-free products, as well as approval of tax incentives to get people affected in income tax, as deductible expenses for purchasing gluten-free foods. "
