Let's change aims to create a protocol to implement the Historical Memory Act to street (21/04/2016)

Councilman Let's change Murcia Nacho Tornel ask the plenary session next week that the Commission Designation of Calles working in the establishment of a protocol to start the application of the Law of Historical Memory in reference to the roads affected by the contents of the rule.

Tornel has indicated that the implementation of this law is already provided for in Regulation Designation of Streets of the City Council, not yet approved but has the consensus of all local groups, including the PP.

The mayor explained that there are 33 streets with related persons or special dates of Francoism as "Generalissimo", "July 18", "General Sanjurjo," "General Yagüe", "General Mola," "Lieutenant Perez names in Murcia round "or" General Moscardó ".

He recalled that the Act was enacted in 2007 and since then, despite the motions filed by the municipal groups Izquierda Unida and PSOE in 2010 and 2011 respectively, the government teams have so far done nothing to bring it into March.

In this regard, he warned that a standard of those characteristics "does not apply by decree overnight", but requires a reflection process not yet started to see which streets have to change his name and why.

To this end, training municipalist considers it essential that the Commission draw up a protocol to decide how to start the application of the law and then inform the public, making available municipal resources necessary to facilitate the process.

The council has proposed about the statistical service of the City correct ex officio documentation of people living in the affected streets and through Social Services, realizes the neighbors on the procedures they have to follow notifications.

"Any other practical step that can avoid inconvenience to citizens should be discussed and resourcing," she added.

Examples in other locations in the region

The Law of Historical Memory and it is driving in towns like Totana, where last January by a plenary agreement, it was decided to change the names to streets that were related to the Franco dictatorship.

The City Council of this municipality has sent a letter to the residents of the affected routes in which they are informed that from the municipal authorities, and to avoid discomfort, it has notified all institutions (cadastre, Murcia Health Service or Post Office) the change made.
