The University of Murcia commitment to cooperation (20/04/2016)

Students, doctors and nurses at the University of Murcia, as well as other donors, participated this afternoon in the roundtable "Cooperation: social and academic commitment", which was held in the Board Room of the Building of Convalescence.

All have highlighted the high dose of vocation, solidarity and presiding spirit of helping these activities, which in the words of one participant, "is a drug that hooks".

The presentation has been made by the Rector José Orihuela;

Miguel Angel Perez Sanchez, Vice Chancellor of Students, Equality and Quality, and the doctor at the University of Murcia Fernando Santonja, who said that the best cooperation "is the generosity that beings who truly need is provided", and encouraged the Rector to continue to support cooperation with the same intensity with which it has done so far.

The Vice Chancellor of Students, meanwhile, said that since the UMU "should facilitate maximum work of solidarity and social commitment of our teachers," and highlighted the work of volunteer work at the University of Murcia: "Volunteering is a social commitment who has always had this university, "he said, adding that are 2,200 students UMU performing volunteer activities, getting to spend 50,000 hours a year in an area in which the University has signed between 50 and 60 agreements with NGOs and others.

Finally, the Rector referred to the importance of education in values ​​and said that "what we must ask are not the reasons that drive people to leave voluntarily, but why are not cooperating," adding that " you have at the University of Murcia to help in whatever is needed in this regard. "

For years, the University of Murcia collaborates in solidarity activities to support research projects and implementing programs that affect improvements in the quality of life of beings in disadvantaged areas, donating research material, engaging in staff training, providing tools that result in improving their health, and letting his teachers go to places that are in need of help.
