The Murcian sculptor Lidó Rico has in the Rector of the University of Murcia the exhibition "The Wedding" (19/04/2016)

The artist has donated one of their "brains" to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia

It has been presented today at the building of the Rectory of the University of Murcia Lidó Rico exhibition entitled "The Wedding," whose official opening will take place on Thursday April 22 at 19:00.

The event, which was chaired by President Jose Orihuela, the artist has delivered one of the sculptures of the project at the Faculty of Medicine, whose dean, Miguel Garcia Salom, said they will seek a suitable place for the same place.

The exhibition is part of the project "Genoarquitecturas", a collaboration initiated two years ago by the Murcian artist Kuei Y. Tseng neurophysiologist, Professor, Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Chicago, and neurobiologist José Luis Ferrán, professor, Department of Anatomy and Psychobiology of the University of Murcia.

Lidó Rico has made a series of Neuroesculturas obtained from several real human brains, with which the author establishes a new vision of our machinery of thought.

Rico considers vital and active social role to be played by art as a vehicle of knowledge, hence the special interest that one of his works go destined to the Faculty of Medicine.

Lidó Rico spoke about the current mission of the artist, who in his opinion should be "interconnect various disciplines" and said that "art has always been the brain from afar, from a landscaper view, but I'm interested in reality "" I seek not aesthetics, but the man ".

"Art is said to contribute, and in a cultural desert as we live, the University has a definite role for the development of man, is the company that distributes knowledge."

Dean of Medicine, Miguel Garcia Salom, welcomed the donation of the work, saying that "Art, like science, brings us closer to the beautiful, but represent it differently."

Memories and life experiences

"The Wedding" is intended to reflect on the importance of accumulating good experiences, because they are stored in our brain and contribute to the everyday decisions that our mind.
