Huerta Live denounces the works of the highway Reguerón for not complying with the environmental impact statement (13/04/2016)

The association calls for the immediate cessation of work and the cancellation of the project considering it unnecessary work to be alternatives, and that is a tremendous aggression to people affected and Huerta as agricultural land with great environmental and landscape values, and become a new barrier to the coastal districts of the South.

La Huerta Live association filed on March 14 a complaint SEPRONA Civil Guard to suspect that the works of the route of the highway Reguerón in Beniaján were made without the necessary technical reports to ensure that they are not causing damage to species being protected nesting season.

You are works involve the cutting of a huge area of trees and earthwork with heavy machinery, being clearly specified in section 4 of the environmental impact statement that, based on the indication of the Service of Environmental Protection and Article 9.5. 3 of the General Plan, "When works are carried out during the months between March and August inclusive, a qualified technician should confirm the absence of nests of protected species. in case if there are nests must be communicated to the Ministry of Sustainable development and Planning, which must give permission for the withdrawal, removal or destruction is carried out as you see fit. "

The Civil Guard was made in the area of work on 16 March, these actions being forwarded to the Directorate General of the Environment and Planning Department of the City of Murcia.

The association also notes that this highway, initially budgeted at 209 million euros (BOE 26 July 2009), planned to continue as a highway to Catral in Alicante, but this extension was finally dismissed due to social and political opposition from municipalities affected in the Vega Baja.

Huerta Viva wonders how in Murcia, after the suspension of the project in 2010 but remained alive thanks to a meager contribution of 300,000 euros, its layout is restarted in 2015 with an adjustment cost 186 million euros and that it has approved only a small percentage, but enough to devastate a large expanse of garden until now well preserved.

Huerta Viva opposes the construction of this infrastructure and is preparing a manifesto against the aggression against the territory, the environment and quality of life of its inhabitants, and calls for the immediate cessation of work and the cancellation of the project by the following reasons:

The aggression that the plot involves the entire South orchard, ravaging a large area of garden which houses important traditional agricultural, environmental, heritage and landscape values, and casting their land to numerous huertanos.

The fragmentation of the plain of Murcia along its entire length, leaving virtually isolated areas, making it difficult to farm orchard and increasing the risk of flooding to be a hit by the mouth of wadi area vary.

The absence of justification for a new infrastructure ring for the city of Murcia, which already has two alternative communication with the shore by the A-30 and its branch to San Javier and the RM-1 Zeneta, whose connection with the a-7 is also planned with the so-called Highway Bancal on its stretch of Beniel and Santomera.

To this must be added the projected North ring.

The overlap of functions with the South Coast Highway, and planned and partially implemented, which runs in parallel with three lanes in each direction and whose conclusion would solve the historical claims of the districts of Beniaján, Torreagüerra, the Branches and Zeneta.

The negative effects on the neighboring Valle Regional Park and Carrascoy resulting from pollution, noise and light pollution.

The socioeconomic impact that a large investment of these features is a time of scarce public resources in which more priority issues have been neglected.
