200 years of the history of Murcia a click (12/04/2016)

"It is the first time the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport grants a transfer of this type to spread through the Internet, a newspaper that was published by the State, thus recovering a fundamental part of the memory of Murcia," he said José Ballesta, who added that "we are talking about adding more than 260,000 pages of information from more than 13,600 copies of the daily newspaper, a header with 44 years of history (from 1939-1983), whose editors wrote the chronicle political, cultural and social of Murcia, from the time of the Franco regime until the early years of our democracy. "

The project to digitize the historical press launched in 2002, has made it possible, at present, the Municipal Archives have in your intranet press headers 359 and digitized over 1,200,000 pages covering a chronological period comprised between 1792 (with El Correo de Murcia) and 1998 (the Truth).

For its part, the file has over 390,000 web pages that are added, starting today, 260,000 Line, which makes a total of 658,960 pages.

Thus, it is now available to all Internet users the complete collection of daily line on the website of the municipal body (http://www.archivodemurcia.es/), and information that could be consulted on the intranet Archive located in the Palace of Almudí.

Municipal Newspaper Library is considered the most important in our region in terms of quantity and variety of copies of newspapers.

Guarded from its origins with funds Municipal Archives, is a source of historical research of the first order, not only for knowledge of the city, but also to the knowledge of the other municipalities of the Community.

The hemerográfico fund is undoubtedly the most consulted by researchers;

it attests to the figure of 880,000 pages of newspaper consulted with more than 1,000 hits during 2015.

Online Journal: witness the history of a city

On April 12, 1939 came to light in Murcia a new journal: Syndicalist National, organ of the Spanish Falange Line and spokesman therefore the policy of the new regime and renamed in 1948, Line.

It was directed in its first stage by José Sánchez Moreno, journalist and humanist, who was able to maintain a balance between his intellectual concerns and submission guidelines of the press of the Movement, bringing news of the Spanish cultural situation and focusing on cultural chronicle and literary creation.

A Jose Juan Cano Vera corresponds to the stage of political transition that began after the death of Franco.

Line strengthens its drafting young journalists, but the newspaper undergoes a difficult business situation and resents his links with the former regime.

Finally, the head was taken to auction and, in the absence of bidders, it was closed in February 1983.
