The University of Murcia collaborate in the campaign "Staying Alive" Doctors Without Borders (11/04/2016)

The University of Murcia (UMU) has signed a cooperation agreement and a volunteer with Doctors Without Borders (MSF), an organization that has presented at the rectory of this institution the campaign "Staying Alive," to pretend to bring the reality of today immersed civilians in armed conflict.

As part of the campaign, MSF delegate to Valencia, Murcia and the Canary Islands, Mila Font, will participate this afternoon at 19:30 pm in the Conference Hall of Letters of the University Rector in seminaries, forum reflection in which important figures of public life are invited by the rector of the university of Murcia, José Orihuela, to discuss current affairs and issues affecting the Spanish university.

The theme of the conference will be the same Font campaign, which is to show the reality experienced by refugees, for an exhibition of visual immersion will be installed-from 20 to 24 April in the Plaza de la University- pictures of people trapped by violence or fleeing from it in Syria and South Sudan.

The campaign activities this week include dialogue tomorrow between writer Jerome Tristante and the president of MSF, José Antonio Bastos, two panel discussions on April 14 about the refugee crisis from a journalistic point of view (one of them, in the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the UMU) and a staged reading at the Concha Lavella Hall of the Merced campus, to be held next Friday.

During the signing ceremony of the agreements, the Vice Chancellor of Students, Quality and Equality, Miguel Angel Perez, mentioned students as the main beneficiaries of these agreements, which provide for collaboration in volunteer and advisory activities, research and training especially in the field of humanitarian action.

For its part, the delegate of MSF Mila Font, who has signed the agreements, said that for your organization is an "honor" to cooperate with the University of Murcia, "that will be key to the success of the campaign."

The rector, José Orihuela, who has defined MSF as a fundamental organization, said that the situation of civilians in war is something that "hurts us, hurts us" and that the agreement "provides us with help and do something for mitigate that reality. "
