The City Council will enable an "official seal point" for pilgrims on the Way of the Cross (08/04/2016)

In collaboration with the Institute of Tourism, the Department directed Jesus Pacheco will carry out various activities to promote and publicize the "Camino de Levante" which crosses the municipality of Murcia, and is the main route of the strategic project "Road Caravaca Cross ".

The city of Murcia is launching several actions for the city is prepared to seize opportunities and synergies of the strategic project "Way of the Cross of Caravaca" being developed by the Institute of Tourism (ITREM).

The goal is not to miss opportunities that will provide the granting of the Holy See to celebrate the Jubilee Year in perpetuity every seven years, with the next event in 2017.

The "Camino de Levante" represents the main route of all pilgrimage routes from different points of national and regional geography, and its dissemination and promotion must translate into tourism promotion for the town, and a motor for job creation and wealth.

The route through the city connects the Valencia-in Orihuela-conditioned and leverages infrastructure for non-motorized traffic.

Runs through Murcia, runs along the River Segura Butte, arriving at Molina de Segura, continues along the "Via Verde del Noroeste" to Caravaca de la Cruz.

Development, signage, enhancement and promotion of the "Camino de Levante" will be held by cooperation of the City and the Institute of Tourism, whose content and lines of action set out in the agreement approved today by the Board of Governors.

Among the highlights aspects of the agreement with the Department of Tourism to create an official seal point of the credentials of the pilgrims who will design the ITREM.

The site will be properly identified by a plate and provide a sufficient opening hours to serve the public.

In addition, the City will promote the involvement of local entrepreneurs to network "establishments belonging" that will create the Institute and jointly scheduled events related to the road, especially during the during the celebration of the Jubilee Year activities are integrated.

Similarly, both administrations will launch an Association of Friends of the Way of the Cross of Caravaca, encouraging the participation of associations, foundations and individuals.

Other incorporated into the agreement aspect includes the Council's commitment to contribute to the dissemination of the project from the municipal tourist offices, as well as enable a direct link on their platforms "on line" and "of line" with the tools to develop the ITREM for reach a larger number of pilgrims and tourists.
