The PSOE requires Emuasa to clarify the situation of workers keepers scuppers (05/04/2016)

Councilman Municipal Socialist Group, Enrique Ayuso has urged Emuasa to clarify what happened to the workers who until now were responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the scuppers in the municipality.

"The workers who were taking over the service belonged to a company subcontracted by Cespa, which in turn is awarded the maintenance service scuppers to Emuasa. We found a mess of contracts and subcontracts that has resulted in more than one twenty workers to stay on the street, "said the socialist councilor.

Apparently, the new company replacing Cespa in providing this service will not be subrogated to workers who have occupied the same for years.

"Regardless of whether there is contractual or not to subrogation obligation, we want to know it is why he has allowed to reach this situation, with a score of redundant workers and, in some cases, have spent more than a decade dedicated to that service, "Ayuso has indicated.

"We demand that the maze of contracts and subcontracts clarification, and Emuasa resolve the situation as it is the highest authority responsible for service management and control of the companies that provide" added the mayor of the PSOE.

"The main thing is that workers' rights are respected and that the service will continue lending normally. Emuasa must ensure compliance with these rights, including seniority, as it is considering rehiring some of these workers but ignoring this fact, which could lead to dismissal without compensation, which is one of the concerns of employees. "

The Socialist councilor also lamented that "in the middle of this tug of war between employers and workers, the scuppers are not cleaned since Sunday, which can lead to a major problem due to the rains."

"We want transparency and efficiency, what happens that Emuasa clarify why can subcontracts and what you do to solve the problem of these workers and avoid a repeat in the future," he concluded.
