Let's change Murcia rejects the agreement of the European Union with Turkey (21/03/2016)

We want to express our deepest revulsion at the agreement of the European Union with Turkey.

The closure of borders and the return of persons to a country that has even been shown to shoot those trying to cross the border, is a qualitative, illegal and outrageous leap, part of a flight forward of institutions that are proving to be closer to emerging xenophobic movements of its own founding principles.

For those who are part of Let's change Murcia, European policy is not up to the circumstances and is a far cry from "human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity" which boasts in its Charter of Fundamental Rights, and that make valid the Nobel Peace Prize 2012.

"The successful struggle for peace and reconciliation and for democracy and human rights" with the Norwegian Committee announced the award, seem a bad joke when, according to the United Nations Agency for Refugees, tens of thousands of families, children, the disabled and women remain trapped in Greece struggling to get food and water, many sleeping in the open in midwinter.

The first economic power in the world rather than spend some of their vast resources to comply with treaties and ensure the living conditions of those fleeing war marketed with them.

That seems the promise of a Syrian resettle legally each expel from its territory.

When, according to Amnesty International, only have been relocated a thousand (only 18 in Spain) of the 160,000 people who welcome the Union as agreed in 2015, a figure already insufficient, rather than devote efforts to ensure their safety and comply with international law, it was decided to change its status to that of "illegal migrant" and expel them en masse.

Let's change From Murcia urge the European Union and the Spanish government breaking the agreement with Turkey that the rights of people trapped in Greece and ensure that the relocated as soon as possible in the rest of the continent!

In addition, we ask the government team of the City Council (or Arrien) withdraw the flag of the European Union of the municipal offices as the "deal of shame" to remain standing.
