The degree in Engineering UCAM celebrates its patron with a panel discussion on 'New challenges of computer security' (15/03/2016)

On the occasion of the feast of the patron's Degree in Computer Engineering, San Alberto Magno, the Catholic University of Murcia held a panel discussion entitled 'New challenges of computer security', which has analyzed the current security situation in the media computer.

This event has treated about the new challenges facing the business sector in the implementation of information systems in order to ensure the protection of data, processes and elements that are part of the technological infrastructure.

Experts who have been part of the round table belong to leading technology companies, leaders in the region of Murcia.

Among them they were: Manuel Moreno, director of presales and business development in Spain Kio Networks;

Javier Cao, technical director of the area of ​​information security Signature-e;

Leonardo Nve, senior penetration tester at Portcullis;

Sergio León, head of the engineering department UCAM systems;

and Francisco Arcas, a professor of computer engineering degree from the Catholic University of Murcia.

Leonardo Nve explained that we must protect ourselves from hackers, because the main problem is awareness, "we must know that there are computer woes, we have security, a user must have the computer operating system always updated, have antivirus and be aware of where we are sailing, and we're doing. with this we obtain 90% of basic security ".

In addition, the computer consultant explained that the main way viruses infect us is downloading pirated software, "even though we do not say, all illegally downloaded programs".

For his part, Javier Cao commented that one of the main shortcomings of computing is training.

"Full security does not exist, but if we can protect knowing the matter at hand," said, and added that as there is a subject as road safety, "there should be another to raise awareness on these issues, nobody taught to handle a computer and there is the problem that the user, especially children, fall into certain tricks without proper re-create problems and dangers such as data collection, cyberbullying or stolen images ".

In addition, the head of cybersecurity explained what the main security problem at the enterprise level.

"There is a new trend in virus, which is to sequester information. That is, hackers catch an infected computer, encrypted and ask for a ransom, and if it is not paid data is lost. The problem is that many companies do not back safety, and are obliged to undergo this type of technological bribery ", he assured.
