The Mare Nostrum Campus of the University of Murcia (UMU) has been one of the 16 projects selected Campus of International Excellence program for the 2016 Summer Science Campus.
This program, whose application period runs until March 16, aims to bring science to students of 4th of ESO and 1 Bachelor throughout the country, which will meet during the summer months research that takes out in university laboratories.
The University of Murcia will host from 3 to 30 July 120 students in one of its four draft scientific approach: "Applied Biotechnology", "H2O: a special molecule", "Researching Physics in an everyday environment" and " scientific resolution of crimes. "
UMU professor Rosa Maria Ros, technical director of the project, stressed the "excellent opportunity for students who can work as researchers with other age peers and other Spanish provinces in a university environment."
Summer Campus of the University of Murcia also includes actions such as visits to museums, film forums, musical and shows and recreational physical chemistry, lectures, meetings with publicists and other leisure activities and sports.
In short, a program of activities designed to encourage scientific vocations of young people in a relaxed environment, in the words of Vice Chancellor for Coordination and internationalization, Bernardo Cascales.
The Scientific Summer Campus Program is an initiative of the FECYT (under the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, and has the support of "la Caixa" Welfare Projects.
