Develop a mobile application for emergencies at the University of Murcia (02/03/2016)

The University of Murcia (UMU) today introduced the app Fress 112, a novel application for smartphone and tablets which will automatically contact in case of emergency, with 112 and services Surveillance, Access Control and Prevention of the institution teaching.

The main added value of the app, indicated the vice-rector of Economy, Sustainability and Health Sciences, José María Abellán, is that the same geolocates the specific location of the event, covering 200 hectares, spread over six campuses, and UMU 38,000 people.

The application can be downloaded for free (http://www.fress.org) and is developed by the Fress Foundation, under a cooperation agreement between this entity and the University of Murcia signed this morning in the House of Arts .

During this event, Francisco Rojo, representative of the foundation, explained that the aforementioned geolocation system and medical and personal profile that is inserted into the device provide emergency services two of the data needed to act: the place of accident and who is the person affected.

The third circumstance, what is emergency, it can respond with different communication channels incorporating Fress112: video, photo, interactive chat and traditional voice call.

The presentation, which has chaired the rector of the University, José Orihuela, has been assisted by the government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Antonio Sanchez-Solis, who has encouraged citizens to download this free application that increases the perception safety and it has been created by a Spanish company.

After the ceremony ended, there has been a demonstration in the information terminal installed in the courtyard of the Merced campus.
