1,200 participants will run next Sunday for the benefit of people with Down syndrome (02/03/2016)

Councillor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, presented this morning the fourth edition of the popular race of the Association for Persons with Down Syndrome (ASSIDO), to be held on Sunday March 6 and will feature 1,200 participants.

The event, which runs on the Malecon promenade and garden and will begin at 10:00 hours, has 12 different categories according to age with different distances in each case, ranging from 75 meters to 8,700 meters will cross the Cadets participants from the Carrera Absolute.

There is also a Family Solidarity March for those who simply want to stroll to support the inclusion of people with Down syndrome with their families and friends.

Registration is from 3 to 8 euros and can be done on the website of the Athletics Federation of Murcia www.famu.es and the own association at its headquarters in Plaza Bohemia in Murcia (phone 968 293 810).

ASSIDO was born in 1981 from the union of a group of parents of people with Down syndrome Murcia they came together to get the services and supports that their children needed.

Over time, they have grown up together more than 350 families and their needs have evolved both by the age of its members as its social achievements.

What I remains unchanged is the common goal: improving the quality of life of their brothers, children, and families with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.

In addition, ASSIDO up with 25 other entities of the Federation of Community Organizations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy, Full Inclusion Region of Murcia, which already represents more than 3,000 families.
