The Mayor delivered the diplomas to 137 young people who have completed the qualification course of employment (02/07/2010)

The reality is that not all young people are always interested in completing formal education, which in no way means that require no special training to enforce its insertion into the workplace.

So the city of Murcia, together with the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment and with the help and involvement of more than one hundred companies, organizes programs for these youth to educate them in a craft in which to work.

This alternative, called the Initial Vocational Training Program, has become the right tool for the 2,000 young people who have used it and learned 144 profiles.

The plan is aimed at young people between 16 and 20 years without professional qualifications and are unemployed.

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, presided this morning presented the diplomas to the 137 students who have completed the course -2009/2010-.

The event was also attended by the Councillor for Employment, Civil Protection and Development Cooperation, Beatriz Hontoria, the Director General of Vocational and Adult Education, Joaquín Buendía, and representatives of business organizations and companies that have collaborated with the program.

They have all won the title in eleven offices: electro and communications facilities, welding and steel construction, cooking, hairdressing, beauty, computers, plumbing, air conditioning and vehicle maintenance.

The latter is the profession most in demand by students, while students are opting for hairdressing.

This scheme allows young people receive the necessary theoretical training in a trade and, in many cases, access to a first job, but can also choose to continue their studies they left behind, especially in intermediate vocational training.

The cost amounts to € 726,000, of which the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment provides € 528,000 and the city of Murcia, the rest.

In addition, 104 companies in the municipality this course to assist students to acquire a first experience of learning in a real working context.

The program lasts two years.

In the first one, which is performed at the Center for Employment Training and Initiatives Town Hall-are given training modules related to general-ESO-specific modules, chosen according to qualifications, "free-choice modules computing, sport, Spanish for foreigners, and a training module in work 150 hours for practical work in companies.

Students who pass this first stage can access the second course, which takes place in secondary education scepters and whose purpose is to obtain a Masters degree in ESO.

As for the results of this course, it is noted that 153 students were enrolled, of whom 137 (89.5%) have completed the program.

Of young people who have done internships, 21 (15%) were received from recruitment companies.

In addition, 114 students -83% - have decided to continue their studies to try to obtain the Diploma in ESO, which is the ultimate goal of the program.
