The new Local police station in the hamlet of El Esparragal Murcia improved security in the northeast of the municipality (01/07/2010)

The new headquarters of the local police in Murcia located in the hamlet of El Esparragal, worth Pedanías Unit and a Public Safety Task Force, will serve more than 26,000 inhabitants of the towns of El Esparragal, Churra, Cabeza de Torres and Cobatillas.

The Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, and the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, highlighted during the opening ceremony that this new infrastructure will improve public safety in the northeast of the municipality, with an area of nearly 60 square kilometers.

The new building, built on a parcel of municipal property, an investment of 810,000 euros, of which 678,669 are under construction and the rest of the building equipment.

Of the total, the Autonomous Community has contributed 600,000 euros.

The building has two floors with a total built area of 877 square meters.

The first floor is for daily performance in dependencies of the functions of the local police, administrative and police, with headquarters in crowded, offices, changing rooms, toilets and assembly hall.

On the ground floor is located the storage area, an armory and toilets, among other agencies, and outside covered parking for official vehicles.

Regional Security Plan

To reverse this action "will contribute to improving police service to be more egalitarian and better distributed geographically, increasing public safety."

The Minister highlighted the efforts of the regional government in infrastructure, staffing and training to various municipal bodies in the Region Local police are "more competitive, better skilled and technically better prepared with the aim of providing quality service to citizens ".

Reverte said the Regional Public Safety Plan, as completed, has allowed the addition of 60 new officers to the local police staff of Murcia, the total of 628 planned for the entire region, and their functions in Special Units Security.

In addition, the municipality of Murcia has received six police vehicles within the allocation provided in the Plan.
