The Councilor for Sustainable Development, Antonio Navarro, has pointed out that "the Local Strategy of the Electric Vehicle for the period 2020-2030 will reinforce the use of green mobility in the municipality of Murcia and will mark the roadmap to achieve our main objective, which is the defense of the environment through the implementation of policies and measures that promote sustainability " The municipal project to promote electric mobility that the Government Team is developing has led to the Murcia City Council receiving national recognition within the framework of the eighth edition of the Awards for Good Local Practices for Climate, a contest organized by Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). In this edition, 91 proposals belonging to 55 different local entities have been presented.

The Murcian Consistory has been a finalist in the category of 'Mobility Management', together with the municipalities of Vedra, Parla, San Pedro del Pinatar, Riba-roja de Túria, Getafe and the Provincial Council of Albacete. This year the FEMP has recognized projects related to the energy transition, urban regeneration and renewal, nature-based solutions, the circular economy, adaptation to climate change, public awareness and awareness, and citizen participation. Together with the municipalities of La Coruña and Málaga Other local entities whose projects have been recognized are the Consell Insular de Menorca, the municipalities of La Coruña, Málaga, Icod de los Vinos and Pamplona and the provincial councils of Málaga and Cádiz.

The ceremony for the delivery of the awards, in which the Murcia City Council will participate, will take place soon, the date is still to be determined. The Local Energy and Climate Agency (ALEM), framed within the Department of Sustainable Development and Huerta, is the department that channels municipal actions related to promoting electric mobility. Its manager, Antonio Navarro, recalled that "the Local Electric Vehicle Strategy for the 2020-2030 period will reinforce the use of green mobility in the municipality of Murcia and will mark the roadmap with the actions to achieve our main objective, which it is the defense of the environment through the implementation of policies and measures that promote sustainability ". The City Council is going to reinforce the subsidies for the installation of electric recharging points in the private sphere, as well as for the acquisition of electric bicycles within its strategic commitment to promoting the use of sustainable mobility. In addition, the review of the Local Electric Vehicle Strategy has already been completed and will be presented shortly to the Electric Vehicle Work Table to show the progress that will focus the design of the initiatives and projects to be implemented. The Local Electric Vehicle Strategy will help the municipality of Murcia advance in its set objectives of decarbonization and innovation of urban mobility to achieve a transition towards a model of change that is more sustainable and intelligent.
